Mrs. J's Pie Crust Recipe
Mix 3 Cups flour with 1 tsp. Salt and 1 1/2 Cups Shortening
Until you have crumbs
Beat 1 Egg with 2 Tablespoons Vinegar and 3 1/2 - 4 Tablespoons of Water in seperate bowl
Add Egg,Vinegar, Water mixture to Flour mix.
Use hands to squeeze and work the dough
Roll out on well floured surface.
For a peach pie, use your favorite filling or recipe for a filling. Bake pie at 425 for 15 minutes. Turn oven to 350 and bake an additional 45 minutes. For a Single Pastry Pie Crust, let's say for a cream pie. Bake the crust at 425 for approx. 12 minutes. (prick pastry with a fork first). Let cool, fill with cream filling and chill. This recipe makes enough dough for a two crust pie.
WAX PAPER PIE CRUST
Mix 1 3/4 Cup Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup Oil
3-4 Tablespoons Cold Water
Mix with a Pastry Blender, Roll out between two sheets of Wax Paper. Dampen the counter top with water, where the bottom sheet of wax paper lays, it helps it from moving around when rolling.
Makes one pie crust
I bought the glass pedestal at Goodwill for $1.99 years ago! It's one of my favorite things! And perfect for sitting a pie on top of. You'll see it in many pictures of things I make and bake. I love setting my frosted sugar cookies on top too.
