Quilt No. 1

It took me much longer than I anticipated. But with a little help from my hubby and a bit of modification to my sewing machine area, I was able to complete all 3 quilts for my kiddos.{AND! Cross 3 UFO's off my list!}

It was down to the wire and by Christmas Eve my little fingers were a bit tender from sewing on the binding. But I was so excited (and relieved) to get them done and have them wrapped under the tree just in the nick of time.
Here's quilt No. 1 for our No. 1 and his wife. The blocks were made from scraps in my scrap bins. Hubby took me to the fabric store and helped pick out the sashing. He did an awesome job. I used a light to medium weight soft Denim for the back and love how it turned out. I didn't do any measuring. I just sewed and sewed and hoped it would all work out in the end. And it did. It ended up being right around a twin size. I'll be sharing the other 2 quilts this week too. Such a great feeling to have gotten them done. I even labeled them! Sorry. But I am patting myself on the back. ;o) LOL I mean geesh! I even quilted the dang things, standing up!

Congratulations on your UFO busting and gifting. So pretty and bright, sure to have been a hit with your kids! Sometimes I'd like to do my sewing standing up too--I sit so much in my working life that it would be a nice change to do my hobby upright :)

What a very pretty quilt! So cheerful. I tend to do the same thing. Get an idea and just start sewing. People always ask what size -- which is usually not one of the first things I consider. Can't wait to see the other two quilts!

Beautiful! Your Hubby did a great job picking out the sashing fabric. I love taking Hubby with me to choose fabric. It's nice to have another pair of eyes to help decide.

Great job getting them all done...even standing up!!

I love the colors of this quilt! My favorite quilts are the ones that I make without a pattern, just using the inspiration of seeing someone else's quilt. All three look great! Happy New Year!
