Scrappy 2009 Quilt

It's time for Queen Elna and I to start my Scrappy 2009 Quilt!Last January I decided to make a quilt at the beginning of each New Year, using all scraps from my previous years projects. This is my 2008 Scrappy Quilt! I think this was my first run at Wonkiness. And I love how it turned out. I used a Mark Lipinski fabric for a border and the backing. It's one of my favorite quilts.

This is such a great idea! I might have to try one of my own. Also, I LOVE the quilts you made for your boys. Perfect. Thanks for the update - I hope you get a real diagnosis soon! Prayers for you.

Well....if you do a wonky house quilt, you're going to have an awful lot of wonky houses LOL! I love CrazyMom's scrap nine-patch quilt - it was a lot of fun to make and fairly quick when I had the time.

I can see why this is your favorite quilt, it is beautiful!

And I love the idea of making a quilt entirely from the previous years scraps!!

I will definitely be filing this idea for future use!

Thank you

Sheila

Great idea and great quilt! I don't think that I have enough scraps yet to have an entire scrap quilt...but I"m getting darn close :)

You have to visit Bonnie Hunter's website on scrap quilting she is amazing and has one book published and another on the way. www.quiltville.com. also I did one following her instructions, I have the top done, just have to sandwich and quilt. http://lalaslovelys.blogspot.com/2009/04/diamonds-or-squares.html It was the first time I used this technique, but I enjoyed it. Good luck

Great idea. I just finished a quilt made from lots of leftovers I had in my stash, but not all fabric from one year. Finished top can be seen here: http://quiltingonmainstreet.blogspot.com/2010/01/name-that-quilt.html
and I have several earlier posts showing step-by-step construction and progress.

I LOVE this idea!!! Then those scraps can't multipy and reproduce when you're not looking!

Hi Jodi
I love making Scrappy quilts. I once took a workshop by Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston who are the queens of scrappy quilts in my opinion. That is a fun idea to use all your scraps for each year in one quilt.

people have linked some cute stuff up...but I LOVE the one you did last year - and I think it's a fun idea to maintain the "theme" through the years :) - I say do the same thing over again! xoxo

scrap quilts are the best. i can spend all day looking at each fabric. maybe go with something curvey this year. just looking at the summertime book by black mountain, there's a simple quilt in there with dots.

I've added a link...the quilt in question is at the bottom of the post. It was a great way to use up strips...and sewed up very fast!

Your quilt is awesome! What a neat way to use up scraps and have a keepsake for each year with pieces of all the quilts you made that year.

I'm WAY partial to the spider web. I think that would be adorable!! But I will throw out my little pattern for a crazy quilt look! I "linky'd", hope that's okay??!!

I love the idea of turning all one year's scraps into a year end quilt! You are so smart!

I'll have to start a separate scrap box for 2010.

I love that term "Wonkiness" my normal quilts feel that way. Your scrappy year quilt is a great idea. Been quilting for just about a month. I have a small pile of scraps. Look forward to end of the year and being able to make me one.
