Hexie Tutorials I Recommend

There's been lots of talk about Hexies this week.
Specifically from THIS POST over at SEW PICTURE PERFECT.

I wanted to pass on to you,
a couple tutorials in Blog Land that I think are the best I've seen
when it comes to hand piecing hexagons.

Lori from BEE IN MY BONNET
and
Karen from SEW MANY WAYS

Go visit the links at the bottom of this post for great tutorials.

If I could pass along ONE extremely valuable tip?

Use Cardstock Hexagons, and Baste on the BACK.

See this photo below from Lori's blog:

It eliminates having to cut all those blasted threads after your hexies are all sewn.

The very first person to bring this to my attention was Des from Quilt Taffy.

If I ever get to meet her in real life, I'll give her one BIG BEAR hug, because she saved my Grandmothers Flower Garden Hexagon life! LOL

My most important tip was the paper clips. I use two, one on a flat side, and one two sides over. It keeps my fabric from shifting around so that I can get my hexie perfect.

I tried hexagons several times and it wasn't until I found Lori's tutorial that I was actually able to make it come out right. I am so excited!

I started my quilt about two months ago and have almost all my flowers assembled and am ready to start putting my top together!

I am not really here. I did not read this. I like those pretty hexie flowers. I will not succumb to bloggie peer pressure. I am strong. I am gonna grab my paperclips - no! I can resist this. I really can..............HELP!!!!!!

Lori's Hexie tutorial is the best! After reading her tutorial, I decided that a Hexie quilt of some sorts was on my 'bucket list' of quilts. Then, when I saw your Grandmother's Flower Garden, I knew exactly what sort of Hexie Quilt I wanted to do. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
