Back in July of 2008 I shared "the room".
Son #1 had gotten married and moved out. So... I took over his bedroom and turned it into my office/craft room/sewing room/studio.
This is what it looked like then. I hadn't even used the space yet. Hubby had just installed the cabinet's he'd built specifically for this room, and I had just started to fill it with all my boxes of crafting goodness.
For whatever reason, I decided to try a new color palette. Something outside of my "norm". Pink and Browns. Pink and Browns aren't really me. It wasn't long after (maybe a few months) that things started to evolve and I changed out the curtains and cushions and went back to "me". Here's the last BEFORE shot;
Now it definitely looks more lived in, more "me" and I totally love being in here. { For more detailed descriptions you can visit my flickr set "My Creating Space".}
Here is what it looks like now; This is where I sew;
The cutting table (1/2 cutting mat / 1/2 ironing board) ;
Some of my treasures;
I save all my empty spools, I do not know why?
More spools;
Love my SIMPLIFY sign, but had to laugh when i saw this photo. It's loaded with stuff! Far from being simple! LOL. It hangs above my Office space;
My friend and trusty side kick;
I'm typing this post, right here!
My super fabulous iron I bought at a garage sale for $2 on my super fabulous ironing "board";
My wall of fame and Inspiration Board #1;
Love my cute blue stool. I sew sitting on this mostly.
Inspiration Board #2 and my handy organizer for the stuff I use everyday.
My Button and Trinket Collection from days gone by;
The Quilt Rack the hubby made for me, and my mom's coat that my great grandma made her;
The shelf hubby made for my rulers and Square It Ups!;
And my favorite sign and NEW ADORABLE Bunting from A Pretty Cool Life!
So there ya are. Your 3 minute tour. Hope you enjoyed. And now ya all know where I spend 1/2 my life! LOL.
{p.s. you can click on each photo to go to my flickr page and see detailed info.}

Incredible! What a wonderful space!!! Great colors and the photos you took are so good. Your room is going to be picked up for a feature in a magazine...it's that good! What an inspiring and enjoyable post. Thanks for showing it to us.
Oh, to have such a clean sewing space -- it's beautiful! I spy a Wonky!!!
I love your space! We must share the love for many items, as my sewing room contains some similar items and features -- although, in a very different color combo. I especially adore the FP barn! That was a favorite toy of my son, and one that I made sure was kept! So sweet.
What a fun tour Jodi! You have a wonderful space to work in!
I LOVE it! What a fun space to spend so much time in creating ;0)
I loooooove it!! And I love that you have that heirloom coat hung up and displayed in your room!!
you lucky girl! the room is my dream! love the fisher price barn, my brother had the same one!! I know they are collectors items now! you are so creative and the space is wonderful
How fun to have a tour of your sewing room. And I was thinking the "before" was pretty nice! You have such a talent for display. Such a creative room!
This room is fabulous! I called my hubby in to see it, (and point out a few, ahem, projects)! How did you make the ironing pad? I love that idea, so handy next to a cutting area.
I love your creative room! Just a beautiful space to work in.
What a wonderful room to sew in! Lucky you!
Ahh ... I like. Except I wish we could see the 'whole room' (maybe in Flickr) so I could visualize where everything goes :).
I'm still brainstorming my 'ideal' set up. I *think* I have hubs convinced that should be our fall/winter make-over. So nice to have a carpenter on site :).
Oh and I'm going to have him build me a quilt ladder for the living room to show off all the fun quits I've been making :).
OMG, super cute!!!Great job!
It is really really lovely. Such a clean and peaceful spot.
I just love it Jodi...thanks so much for sharing your space...so many great ideas here!
Jodi,
What a fun space- I do love pink and brown together- Both my son and brother had the FP barn- I have three small toys in my sewing area that were mine from my childhood. My grandmother had a box of play things that included a cash register,a toy telephone and a toy iron that you could plug in and it actually heats. When I look at them it makes my heart smile.
Thanks for sharing your space. May you enjoy many happy creative hours there.
Warmest regards,
Anna
We all need a space just like yours. Of course mine wouldn't be that tidy! Love everything about your room especially the special items that are handmade. I bet you just love working in there,
Your space is great! I am currently rearranging my craft room and I love to get ideas from others like you. I like that you keep your empty spools on display, I keep mine too, but never thought of using them as decorations.
What a beautiful sewing/crafting space. It's so neat. Where are your projects? Where is your fabric stash?
I loves this room of yours!
I save my empty spools too! In my old bicycle basket. What is wrong with us, right? The wooden ones I have a plan to use but the plastic ones - eh? Somebody needs to create something for us to "copy!"
I had to laugh when I saw your button and trinket collection. I have some of the same buttons- the Girl Scout pin, all the I heart buttons and rainbows. I should dig mine out.
I absolutely love it! Oh, what I would give for that wood desk with the built-in corner. Your husband's mighty talented. I never could see that pink and brown combination. Seemed a little off to me. I like yours now MUCH better!
Brenda
What a wonderful space! You can't help but be happy and creative in such lovely surroundings!
..love ur space...I save empty spools too...I like how they look for decoration. I too love my iron from the thrift store for $1.61. It's old, so it gets super hot....love it!

How lucky are you!!
Very nice space. I love that you have your mom's coat. That is so precious.

What a lovely space to live in and create. It is so you! I spied that cute little pincushion chair that Lori made for you. Thanks for sharing!
I love your sewing space. It is so clean, bright and cheerful! I especially love the way you've saved your spools and used them to fill up your glass containers. What a wonderful idea.
What a fabulous place to create. Just lovely.
Can i stand in your sewing room?...lol

Have a wonderful day.

What a great space! I love your spool pin cushion. Do you have a pattern available? I'd love to make one. Thanks for sharing all your good ideas.
no wonder you're so talented! You've surrounded yourself with color and inspiration. What a great place to 'work'!!
I heart your studio. I love the white accented with soft and bright colors together. I would never want to leave it!
The yellow coat is adorable - what a treasure. I bet you love being in there -- great space. Thanks for the tour - really enjoyed it.
That is a great studio. Love the cutting/ironing table.
I just found your blog today and can I just say you're amazing!!! I love your blog!
I think we have the same iron but that is as far as the comparison goes.
I am jealous! Happy for you! I wish I had my own sewing space, but for now I am sharing the smallish front room with the computer desk and foot traffic.
My little grandson likes to get into all the scrap fabrics and I find them all over the house. And I actually don't mind at all!
It is so amazing. The wall color is wonderful. May you enjoy many hours creating in this room.
I love your space Jodi! I hope I don't have to wait for my kids to grow up and get married, but if I do, I want to grow up and be like you too! Your simplify is the best :)
Love your sewing space.. wish mine was like that.. Have WAY too many things in my room.. and NO where to put them... ;o)) Have to come up with new ideas... and lots of money to redo everything to my needs..:o)))
Thanks for showing..:o)
I adore your fun and refreshing craft room and I am so jealous!! Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE this space, Jodi. It is you...bright, happy, inviting and, well, it seems as though the room is smiling! Yes, just like you!!!
I was going to do that but my daughter came back home from Navy boot camp (2006), injured. She's doing ok now and we share this space as "our office" but she's got more of it right now. Since she's currently unemployed, she's been going through stuff and getting rid of alot of stuff. So it's a mess right now but it's a process I'm happy she's doing. So that's all I can say about an extra room that used to be her brother's. He moved out, is married with an adorable little girl and another baby on the way in Jan! Love the photos of inspiration! Thanks!
Oh My! Ok, I SOOOO need to work in something as cute and as pleasant as this! I think this is going to become my new obsession because of you! I stopped by to visit your blogs, you are my newest follower, and I am now yours! Cool! Thanks for stopping by, your SWEET comment on my Floor cushion and for the inspiration! Greetings from mexico! Clau (Handmade Con Amor)
Hello! I saw you over at Adventures of One Crazy Lady today (love her!). I adore your craft space...so jealous! hehe. Thanks so much for sharing it. The stool is so cute and I love the bunting as well! :O)

very beautiful place. i like your style.
What an awesome space! I, too, hold onto all those empty spools . . . they mostly get used as stacking toys for my son when he's in the room with me. When I dare to have in the sewing room with me that is. LOL!
