My Creating Space...part 2

"The Room" is just shy of 10' x 12' . Walking into the room to the immediate left is my work station.  It takes up a whole wall. This is what I get to see when I walk in everyday.
My fabric Scraps. I love these cubbies and these bins. Both from Target.

Work Station

We took two 9 cube bins from Target. (one on each side of the workstation) Then hubby took a piece of plywood with some trim around the edge and sat it on top of the two cubbies with a brace in the middle. It has worked out awesome! {The 9 cube bin on the right side is FULL of supplies. Both sewing and scrapbooking, the one on the left is where the scrap bins are.}

Workstatioin/Cutting Table

To the immediate right is my "home office" space. Yep. My day to day, bill paying, to do items, and to file items are all right here. When the boys were younger I also had a drawer for each of them.
To Do To Pay To File
When I bring the mail into the house the bills go in the TO PAY drawer along with receipts. Mail to go through or papers that need to be filled out, etc. go in the TO DO drawer. Things that need to be filed in my filing cabinet, go in my TO FILE drawer. I go through the To Pay and To Do drawers at least once a week. I file when the file drawer gets full.
How I organize My Home Office
Under my 3 drawer organizer is my printer/scanner cabinet
Printer / Scanner Cabinet
The basket holds ink and cables, the pull out shelves are labeled (my boys can get paper when they need it, etc. But I buy different kinds of paper, for different projects. So there's no ?'s.
(extra cables: I have 2 scanners, a lap top and a extra monitor. I use them all when I'm doing Family History Work and working on the blog too.)
Printer / Scanner Cabinet
Around the corner to the left from where I sit and have my computer, is this set of drawers.
Office Drawers
Drawer #1 holds pens, pencils, highlighters, sharpies, stapler, calculator, etc. I get in this drawer everyday.
Office Drawer #1
Drawer #2 holds more office supplies

Drawer #3 holds my filing cabinet and some other supplies

Then the space for my sewing machine.

Next to that on my left is my "sewing cabinet" It has 3 pull out shelves inside too.

Shelf #1 holds my sewing tools
Sewing Drawers #1

Shelf #2 holes my thread and needles
Sewing Drawers #2

I love my space and I feel very blessed to have it and have a husband that can build things for me. He is so good to me. And whenever I say, "Honey, I need a..." He does it. I couldn't have any of this or do it without him.

Great work place. I love your large working station. Good tip, use the fabric what you have before you buy more...I try so hard to follow that too.

I love the way you've organized your room. My room is about the same size and I'm getting ready to re-do it. You've given me inspiration and some great ideas that would work for me. Where did you get the pieces for your desk/printer/etc. organization? Did you hubby build most of it?

Thanks Jodi!
I can visualize it now ;).
My room is about the same size and similarly organized (we'll so click when we finally meet :). I'm contemplating moving to our slightly larger room and incorporating my son's crafting area too. Thankfully I too have a very talented hubby who creates beautiful things for me.

One thing I'm pulling for either way is either hardwood or laminate wood flooring ... I think that would be lover-ly.

Happy Day!

I love all the organization. I look at everything and wonder how in the world you figured it all out - my brain just doesn't "see" organization! I do love that you have so little fabric stash. I've just begun quilting, and I don't have room (and won't have room anytime soon) to stash a bunch of fabric just for the sake of having it. It was nice to see someone who doesn't stash just to stash! ;)

You have so many great ideas it's making my head spin. By far I love the work table!! I can't tell you how many times I've seen those cubbies at Target. I never would have thought to use them like this. It's genius! : ) I've been wanting a higher cutting table/ironing table for awhile. This is just the ticket. All my ideas have been so complicated. I also love that ironing board. I can't wait for that post. : )

I know you know how lucky you are but that still doesn't help my serious bout of jealousy! The student's desk in my bedroom is my cutting board, sewing table and computer desk! Ah! One day!

I LOVE your space! Its similar to the set up I have, although your room is slightly bigger and alot more organized. :-)

I would love to make a work table like that. Mine is a 50's kitchen table and not near large enough.
Thanks for showing the pictures!

I'm happy that you can come over to my stash and let me have the anxiety attack. I don't think anxiety and me go together.

I love it. My room is a bit smaller, but i think with ALOT of work and organizing maybe it could look this neat. It would make me feel better about going in there but it might not keep the other family memebers out if it was clean and looked safe! lol

I love your workroom - it's so bright and cheery AND functional! I wish my husband could make what I imagine! He can't pound in a nail without hurting himself so I'm left to do it on my own...and I try but dang I would love to have my room look JUST LIKE YOURS! xo, Nan

Hi Jodi.
I absolutely love your sewing/craft room! It is so crisp, clean, pretty and super functional. :o) A place for everything and everything in it's place.
Can I just say how glad I am that you showed us your fabric stash! I am so much like you in that area. I am just starting out, and I absolutely adore fabric, but I am thrilled to have the fabrics I have and could not have a room over flowing with it. :o) It would make me crazy too. I would feel so "hoardish" and wasteful. :o) I want so badly to be a good steward of what the Lord has given to me.
Have a super week. :o)
Sincerely ~ Tricia

Hi, love your space! I really like the 3 shelf cabinets (printer cabinet) - did your hubby make, or was that a purchase? I could really use a couple like that.

Thanks for sharing!

Love it very much, the most important thing is that, that you have a space for your craft, neither you disturb the whole home nor they disturb you, I too need a space like this, and I have some on my first floor, but still in thinking process that how to plan.. but your this gives me many ideas..Thanks a lot lot for sharing...

Jody, I absolutely love it all. We live in a tiny house and I was just wrestling with how to get more space and what to do with my huge roll top desk.
Please tell me more about where you got all your supplies...I know the 9 drawer cubes, but what about the desk top drawers, etc.? This would all so work in my basement and free up living room space!
