Scrappy 2009 Quilt .... Done!

Each year I'm going to make a scrap quilt using the previous years scraps. Here is my 2008 Scrappy Quilt. You can read more about it, HERE.

Scrappy 2008 Quilt

And even though I changed my mind at least 15 times in regards to how I was going to put together my Scrappy 2009 Quilt. I FINALLY did it! And it's DONE!

Tah Dah!

Scrappy 2009 Quilt

This probably won't be my most favorite Scrappy Quilt ever. But it's done! And it's cute. And I LOVE the backing I found for it. And I LOVE the binding. The only fabric I bought for the quilt, was the backing. (it's from JoAnn's and JoAnn's is the manufacturer).

Scrappy 2009 Quilt

Here it is, just outta the washer and dryer. Straight diagonal line quilting. Took FOREVER! Which is why there are only diagonal lines going one way. LOL. I was going to do a grid. But I just got totally bored with it and said to self, "diagonal lines going one way, are good." ;o) And so it is....
Scrappy 2009 Quilt

And you won't believe this! I've already started and I'm about 1/4 way through my 2010 Scrappy Quilt! Seriously. I am not even kiddin. AND? I LoVe it! I think it's going to be my most favorite Scrappy Quilt ever. But I'm not even going to show you a sneak peak. You have to wait until it's all done. Which might not be until next year! LOL. But the wait will be worth it. I totally promise. Let's just say it's totally addicting and had to put it away in the closet last week, so I could get some other stuff done... And a big sigh of relief from me... Feels so good to get my 2009 quilt done.

oh...it's too late this year, but I am going to find a big box and mark it for next year.. how fun...

Can you tell us more about the procedure? Did you figure out the pattern you wanted to do and then cut your scraps accordingly? Or just cut and hope it would work?

I just love the bright colors of this quilt! I have always been such a chicken about quilting, all the traditional quilts with their complicated looking, teeny little pieces looked so hard. Since I discovered so many sewing blogs and saw quilts like these I am hooked! I am working on my third quilt and I get inspired eery day. Today, this quilt inspires me. Love it! I can't wait to see your next one, (not even a teeny peek? lol)

Love the idea of your scrappy quilts. I've always wondered what to do with my scraps because they are to nice - and some are just plain fun! - to get rid of. I do have a quilt group at our local retirement living community that will take them to make quilts for kids in trauma and lap robes for our local elderly in care centers. No matter what I do with my scraps - keep them or donate them - there's no way to lose! Thanks for your inspiration. I'll be back again soon to see what you have to share.

I like your idea of a yearly scrap quilt. This one is so cheerful and pretty. Great backing. Your diagonal quilting is a perfect foil against the vertical and horizontal lines of the piecing. Now I can hardly wait to see the 2010 scrap quilt.

You are such a star! I just love this quilt with all of the bright colors, fun squares and the backing is adorable. I just finished a Fall scrappy quilt and have got to get it on my blog. So little time, so much to show! Congratulations.

It's not as schizophrenic looking as mine might be--given that you use lots of modern prints with white, so congrats on a wonderful looking scrap quilt! I love scrappy and happy and this quilt sure is.

Jodi, I love your quilt. And I do love the back. I love to shop at JoAnn's, too. They have such a nice variety and so many cute things. I have to go there soon to get backs for my latest quilts.

I love this so much. To echo what Nancy, the first commenter said, could you please share your process? Is there a pattern you follow or is it totally random? This is such a happy quilt. I feel like I said that about one of your other quilts.

I know I'm late, but I just found you and your scrap ideas. I've put your button on my blog and am going to follow along in spite of my late entry. Organization is done. Now on to putting some of these scraps to good use. Thanks for helping with this "growing" problem!
