Looky what arrived in the mail over the Holidays!
And I finally got to play with it!
And looky what else arrived over the Holidays!
And I finally got to try it out too!
Looky what I made using the AccuQuilt Go Baby!
The circles were cut using the circle set die on the Go Baby! The hearts were cut free hand.
Cutting the circles was way fun! Just like that! I had perfect little circles ready to go! Very cool. I also received the Hexagon Die. I saw a fun tutorial using the Hexagon die over at Karen's blog "Sew Many Ways" that I can't wait to try.
I raw edge appliqued the circles and hearts using my free motion foot. I've done raw edge with a zig zag stitch and a blanket stitch, And I use my free motion foot to quilt with, but I've never used my free motion foot to raw edge applique with. I have some practicing to do, but for my first time, I was pleased with the results.
I didn't have any fusible web on hand. So I thought. mmmm. Wonder if I could use the Lapel Stick. And sure enough it worked! I can see all sorts of uses for the Lapel Stick.
I started out with my background piece. Added some scraps to the end {from another project I'm working on} then another piece of my background to each end.
Added some backing and batting and then used the Lapel Stick to hold the circles and hearts down so I could raw edge applique them.
Then I did a little free motion quilting on the background fabric and some straight stitching on the patchwork pieces.
Put on some binding and she was done. Easy peasy quick project with super cute results if I do say so myself.
You can find the lapel sticks HERE.

I love your table runner.
I just jumped into the world of appliqué (for some reason it always scared me). Right nowi just tryto hold the pieces on and sew around raw edges. I have been needing to try and find a way to secure down the pieces that is easy...this sounds like a good idea!
What a great idea Jodi.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Sincerely, Trish
Love that table runner! I received a Go for my B-Day in December and love it. Hope to get both the circle and hexagon dies soon. The lapel stick seems to have a ton of possible uses. Woo Hoo for multi-tasking items! Thanks for the giveaway!

Jodi, Thanks for introducing me to the lapel stick I have never heard of it. Certainly looks alot easier than the ironing method. Thanks for the chance to win one I would love to try this.
How fun! would love to win!
I confess to never having heard of a lapel stick but my goodness, how versatile. I'd love to have one. Your work is an inspiration to me as a novice quilter and I really enjoy reading your posts. Thank you.

Did this just COME out of your head??? I absolutely love it! the solids on the white, the touch of patchwork...everything, you are awesome Jodi! Thanks for the chance to win the stick.
Your table runner is gorgeous! I love hearts and I love the quilting. I've got a Big Shot I use for making cards, I've heard it cuts fabric - must have a go! I'd love some of that lapel stitch, I use tons of Bondaweb when I'm appliqueing and this stuff means no sticky ironing board and iron when you accidently stick it on the wrong side (yes, I've done that!)
Oh lucky you to have a Go. I entered all kinds of contests to see if I could win one, but alas, twas not to be. Your table runner turned out wonderful and the stick was an ingenious idea.
I love the table runner! Cute! :)
What a darling table runner! I'd love to have a lapel stick.

I think the Go Baby would be great for making yo-yo quilts. I'll have to try the lapel stick for applique quilts. Looks like it has the perfect consistency to get the job done, but not gunk up the sewing needles. Love all quilting gadgets!
The Lapel Stick certainly looks like a winner! I love your runner too.
What a great idea. I've never heard of a lapel stick before. I also got the Go! Baby for Christmas and I cant' wait to start playing with it (need to get some dies first). Thanks for all of your great ideas!

That's pretty neat (the lapel stick). I think I really like the Go! Baby. I like that it's smaller. Do you feel like you'll be too limited with which dies you can use? I think I'd like to use it for strip cutting, but it seems like the dies are all too large. What are your thoughts?
Love your table runner. It turned out really cute.
the table runner is darling! I have been thinking of buying a go baby so i will be interested to know how you like it and if you think it is worth the investment.
Awwww! I love those little hearts on the table runner. Very sweet!

oh that looks so easy - this fusible web business gives me hives, give me something that works like a glue stick anyday!
cute table runner! I really need to get my craft room organized. This move seems so much harder than our last and it is taking so much more time for me to get organized. May be something about being pregnant too. What do you think? I would love to try a lapel stick! A glue stick for fabric! Now that's something I could use!

I don't need to be entered to win a lapel stick. I generally use pins or a washable glue stick. I did want to say how adorable your table runner is! Great idea for a simple project that makes a big statement.
I would love to win, but the odds probably aren't with me. :( However I did want to say that I love the runner you made! I may have to keep this in mind! Thanks for sharing!

Very cute table runner :) Neat product too.

That's a very cute table runner. Also, when you cut appliqué pieces with your GO!, you can also adhere an iron-on fusible to the fabric before cutting, and then you don't have to worry about gluing them afterward.
so fabulous!
