Field Trip....the Yankee Trader in Gearhart Oregon

In September I got to join the women in my family and head to the coast for our Annual Girls Weekend!
Sunset at Seaside

The weather was close to perfect...We had Good food. Good conversation & Good times with Good people.

I always try to head over to The Yankee Trader when I'm in Gearhart [just down the road from Seaside a bit].

I've blogged about the Yankee Trader before. HERE and HERE.

And,,, I've been promising a certain someone that I would take some pics of the owner Carrie Bergin's fantastic cakes!

Simply Awesome
Altered Art. I think you could gaze upon these cakes for hours and hours and never see the same little trinket, found object, or ornament twice. Here is my favorite from this trip...

Carrie doesn't do the Internet. {I know!} But she will ship!

It looked like the cakes ranged in price from $50 - $150 each.

I absolutely {LOVE} the Yankee Trader. I always come home with a little somethin. In fact I came home with two somethin's in September! I'll share those with you tomorrow...

I remember seeing the store from posts you did in the past. What amazing alter art! (never heard the term before you, either)
I hope all is well at your house.

Amazing work. Because it's something I probably wouldn't do myself (no room for all of that new stuff to stash) I can stare at it for hours and get my fill that way.

Thanks ~

I grew up in Oregon, which is one of the reasons I follow your blog. Home sweet, home! However, I've never been to the Yankee Trader. It looks very charming. So, my next trip out there to visit family, I would love to stop by there. Thanks for sharing!

Spent many, many happy hours walking the beaches and seeing the country side with mom in the early 90's. She'd park in gearhart or some other coastal area and i'd drive down from lakewood. Beautiful place. Brings back such good memories...miss my mom!

Fun post. I used to live in Seaside. In fact, your beach pic is just down the beach from our family cottage. The last house, next to the grave of the unknown sailor. Thanks for sharing!

Those cakes are certainly works of art. I love the Oregon coast. My dad lives in Springfield and when we go out to visit we always make a trip to the coast.
