Guess what!?! It's done! And I am so thrilled with how it turned out...
Let me present to you my version of CAKE WALK !!! {A Pattern by Lori Holt}

One of the funnest quilts I've worked on ever... a little bit of applique, a little bit of embroidery...

a little bit of ric rac ....

and my own little contribution; {birthday candle's}...

All the women 18 years old and up on my mom's side of the family, get together for our Birthdays once a month. We have a little Birthday Club! When I saw this quilt, I knew I had to make it! And that I had to add a little birthday candle to some of the cakes... When I host the Birthday Club, I'll have this quilt hanging on the front room wall!
It took me a while just because my life has been so busy. But I enjoyed sewing every inch of this quilt...

And can you believe this fun backing I found at JoAnn's! {i bought the last of the bolt and haven't been able to find it since}...

I also used it on the borders... the colors were PERFECT! {I had already picked out and started sewing the cakes when I found the cute print}...

The quilting isn't perfect-o on this quilt, but I'm O.K. with that. Overall I think it turned out pretty darn cute ....

Here are 8 of the 12 cakes on the quilt....

And can I just say how nice it is to FINISH a project. {I have way too many un-finished at the moment...}

I love it!
I love that you say the quilting isn't perfect..thank goodness. As a new quilter and only one queen size quilt under my belt and machine quilted myself! That took for ever...why didn't someone tell me that my first quilt should have been a baby quilt or a wall hanging...goodness it takes a lot to get the hang of machine quilting!
Love your site and all the wonder sites out "there"
You all inspire me to just go for it and enjoy the process. Thanks Tee
Cute, cute, cute. I'd love to make this for my grand daughter. Maybe I could start a block for each year until she's 18. There's an idea!
