Farmers Wife Quilt Along... Progress....

I am so glad that I took the time to ORGANIZE my Farmers Wife blocks and such.....

The other night I pulled out my FWQAL project box, grabbed a few envelopes and started to sew....

In hardly no time at all..... I had four new blocks to add to my growing collection...

New Farmers Wife Quilt Along Blocks

I've completed 18 blocks in all now...

There's something different about these blocks... I don't feel the rush to complete them.. or that nagging feeling I get with many of my UFO's.... I kind of enjoy the longer process on these... (does that make sense?)

18 Blocks Completed

I also enjoy writing in the book as I go, as a journal of sorts... and it's already been fun to go back and read what I've written already through the last year...

I've been thinking about how I will want to set these when they're all done.... mmm....

How are you progressing on your Farmers Wife blocks?

Hi Jodi! Your blocks are awesome!! I didn't start this project because I am legendary for not finishing what I start :) Is the fabric Tanya Whelan??? Love it!! xoxo Debbie

I adore the fabrics you have chosen for your Farmers wife blocks , mine are all scrappy and have been idle for a while now but like you I don't feel that rush and will just pick away as I feel like it.Your blocks are beautiful!!

I need to drag mine out and cut some more. I'm only six blocks in. Doing the traditional route on mine (repros and hand-sewing). Yep, I'm a glutton for punishment!

well, I've done 25 so far and like you, there is no panic on these. I plan on doing 111 and setting them on point. Enjoy the process : )

After one year of sewing at least two a week, I am down to only 7 more blocks! Some of the blocks are "hair pullers", I'm just warning you...but, in the end, the feeling of accomplishment will be worth it! I love your fabric choices...I'm using similar colors-so cheerful!

I haven't even started, I have all the fabric, the book, but I can't seem to take the leap and just start. Maybe moving and redoing our house have got in the way. I love watching your progress !

Unfortunately, I haven't started mine yet. I have a few UFOs that I want to get out of the way before I commit. Your FW is looking absolutely spectacular. I love your colour choices. It's so nice to find a project that you don't feel you have to finish in a week. Take your time and enjoy the process.

Jodi, Your blocks are really pretty. I especially love the dotted fabrics you are using. I couldn't get the gumption up to start this, but happy to see yours. The way you have them laid out, makes me think they need their own sashing to be their own little self...:)

Thank you!!!! I have bought this book too and I adore it, thank you for sharing your organization ideas. I also love the fabrics that you have used. I love the idea of keeping notes too. I have a Smash book that I was wondering what to do with it but I think you have inspired me.

I'm a new follower and have NO blocks. I wish I did! I love your projects and the colors you choose. I'm a very basic quilter and hope to learn from you.

I love your blocks AND organization!! Would you be willing to share how you chose the color scheme/fabrics? I really like the modern look your quilt is shaping up with, but I've never made a large scale project like the Farmer's wife, and I'm finding it paralyzing to choose my fabrics and just get started! Also, how many different fabrics are you using? I feel the need to get all my fabric prepped before I start so I know where I'm going with it because I don't want it to be a hodgepodge in the end. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm so glad you started up again - now I have to my book! I thought it was in the box with my blocks, but when I pulled it out last night it wasn't there. Now I have to clean out my sewing room :o(
