Hello Everyone !!!
Except for my Great Granny Along posts and a few camping posts... I've been a little vacant from the blog...
Summer has been in full swing around here. Yes... We finally got our summer. And I know there are kids going back to school this week in other parts of the country! Crazy isn't it... Keeps things interesting... that's for sure.
So here are my additions to my Great Granny quilt for Week 5! Week 5!? We've been Great Granny Along-in for 5 weeks. How did that happen?
The orange, red and blue block is super bright! (yowsa) but I think it will be O.K...
There has been some confusion as to what is the difference between a Great Granny Block and a Granny Block...
Lori and I have been very sad to "deny" a few photos that were submitted to our flickr group... (insert sad face) We didn't want to infringe upon the already in existence group on flickr... "The Old Red Barn Quilt Along" and their Granny Blocks.
So if you have made blocks like this one below: ( 3 rounds + a background ) using Jolene's Tutorial HERE... you can submit your photos to the Old Red Barn Quilt Along Group...
If you have made blocks like this one below ( 4 rounds + a background ) Using Lori's Tutorial HERE.... you can submit your photos to the Great Granny Along Group!

I am really enjoying your great granny along, your blocks are so pretty. How do you add numbers to your squares? If it's too complicated, don't worry about explaining it. I thought maybe there might be an easy explanation :)
That is some beautiful pattern!!!! I love the creativity here, so much colours!
Hugs,
Love all your bright great granny blocks...
Your blocks look fabulous Jodi! :o)
You have such a good eye for putting color together. :o) I adore the Great Granny Blocks. I plan to use Lori's tutorial for a Christmas version. Can't wait.
Have a good week.

I have two Great grannies started. Just need more time in everyday right now.
I love how you explained and spelled out the difference in the two with clear-cut pictures so we can understand. Love the blocks you've done! I've yet to start but want to!
Love the granny blocks. Really appreaciate all the work you have put into the "quilt-along"
Very cute... I really want to start this, but I promised a friend I'd wait till she got back from vacation :) In the meantime, we are making a crochet version.. Thanks for the great pictures explaining the differences. xxx
Earlier in the summer i decided to make the granny quilt for a granddaughter's second twin bed using scraps from the first twin bed's quilt. The class for #1 starts 8/21. When i saw your great granny qal, i decided to join in, but slowly so as not to use up fabric needed for #1.... Sunday evening i completed 2 great grannies, but mixed up my background whites : kona white & kona snow. I only noticed once i took them into the light to photograph... After they were trimmed.... Aaargh! Despite the set back i do love them. I'll post to flicker once i get to my desk top. Thanks for hosting & your great tutorials!
I did wonder what the Great granny block was as I thought they were the same thing. Good thing I never made any =D

Just started up, grabbed the button. Was waiting to finish a BIG ol' quilt before I dove in but as soon as I started I made 5 blocks in no time. I love this block...want to make a king size bed quilt from them. Hope I can go the distance!
