I'm Alive ... Really!

I know ! I know!  I haven't posted since October!
Where did the last 3 1/2 months go?

THANK YOU... THANK YOU... for all the nice emails sent my way, to make sure I'm O.K.

I am!
And so I thought I better pop in here and give ya a run down of what's been going on at Pleasant Home...

You all know that our main floor flooded the beginning of September. What a mess that was! Holy.... But all in all, I really can't complain. We were almost completely done by Thanksgiving! And we really only had one major mishap... as you'll see below.

Still... every time I look at this photo, I cannot believe Mr. Granite Guy thought I'd be O.K. with this... Just boggles my mind. IT was horrible! Not just the granite, but the entire "ordeal" that followed. It's all fixed now and we love our new counter top.

Because I acted as "general contractor" and Hubby did all the tear out and more... We were able to use that money to put towards upgrades. Do you LOVE my new sink or what?  I. LOVE. IT!  We still have some finishing touches (like trimming out the sink base cabinet, and a few other things.... but we're takin a little break and plan on finishing up later..

I was so happy to be done with all the big stuff by the end of November! Just in time to decorate and get ready for Christmas! I even re-finished our dining room table! I think it turned out great. It took a TON of sanding, but totally worth it.

We went Christmas Tree hunting and found a very nice tree... Here's Son #2 and #3 helping ... And it didn't rain on us! (miracle of all miracles)...

We have a little tradition of going to the Mall at Christmas time as a family...
We wander and window shop and sometimes sneak in a little Christmas Shopping.
And then we treat ourselves to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. mmm...

THIS YEAR was especially Special!  We got to take our grand daughter to see Santa for the first time. Our Daughter-in-Law took this photo of her with Papa and Nana on our way to see him. I love this pic!

And she did really good! It took a little coaxing tho, but we finally got this
precious picture. (if you ask me, Santa was a little scary with long hair, and a soul patch!)

Papa made an adorable cradle for the baby doll we got her. And I "Nana" made
some cute little dresses, diapers, and baby quilts to go with.

I had to share my Christmas present this year too! Because I LOVE it. I've
downloaded books and music to my phone and totally love the sound that comes out of this little thing! One of the best Christmas presents I've ever gotten, I think...

So besides remodeling most of our house... Getting ready for the Holidays and Totally
enjoying them this year (especially with the little one)... Making baby cradles and doll
clothes,, spending lots of time with family and friends...

I also started taking Long Arming Lessons! And I am so excited!  I'm trading with a friend. I'm helping her set up her sewing studio... And she's giving me Long Arm lessons. Win! Win!

I've also been sewing a little. Most of it I can't show you yet. (I'll post about those soon!)
But I decided it was time I actually finished our Master Bedroom. It's been a work in progress for WAY TOO LONG... I made the cute aqua and white pillow cover. I just love it. I was inspired by a pin on Pinterest... you can find it on THIS blog.

Here's a little sneak peak of a quilt I'm working on, that I can show you soon!
The top is almost done.
As soon as it is, I'll post it and the details for making it!

I've also had a little bit of fun getting ready for Valentines Day.
I needed a handout for a Church meeting a couple weeks ago. So this was my way of dividing up the candy! Pretty dang smart, ehy? LOL

And here's the buffet all decked out!  My friend Mary and I, saw these cute
garland's at Michaels, and we thought... "we could make these!".. So we did. So EASY.. Piece of twine about 72" long. 50-60 - 1" x 8" strips of fabric, and a few pieces of tulle.
Just tie the strips of fabric onto the twine into a loose knot and tah dah!
Way fun and cute.

The Inspiration for my chalkboard came from HERE.

And what would Valentines Day be without Frosted Sugar Cookies? Um... so nummy!

Oh ! And these cute little stuffed fabric hearts! I saw these on Pinterest too. You can find the pattern and instructions HERE...

And to be completely truthful... Most of my Blogging Time has turned into Genealogy Time... I have been researching like crazy! (I also do family history research for other people and hit a gold mine the other night for one of my clients)  A friend and I drove up north today to Washington State and visited a very cool Cemetery to take pictures and dig up some information for my client. (well... not literally dig! LOL)  The sun never showed up, the rain didn't either! So we were very happy. And had a great day!

And I've also been pretty lucky with my own family. I LOVE getting mail from England!
Especially in the form of birth, baptism, and marriage certificates...

And of course we spend as much time as we possibly can with the little one!
She is something else.  We have so much fun with her. And her looks kill me! She is such a ham and a joy to be around. I don't know what we did before she came along?  She's almost 22 months and so dang smart... I LOVE listening to her talk. Such a little mimic.

And I've been hoping and wishing for more of this... (that would be sunshine) Or snow. I'll take either. So if anyone has any connections... would you hook me up? :) LOL

Phew... That was a long post!
So... now you know what I've been doing.. I want to know what you all have been doing?  Have you gone anywhere fun?  Sewn anything fun?  Do you have Snow?  Sun?  Do tell.

I will also say that I'm not really sure what the future of Pleasant Home in Blog Land is going to be?  I must admit, besides the busy-ness of our family...I haven't had this burning desire to post. (obviously) Sometimes it just get's to be too much to constantly be photographing every step of the sewing, making, baking and doing, and then the editing, uploading, downloading, posting, editing, etc...
Do you fellow bloggers know what I mean?

But I promise to try and check in a little more until I decide what I'm going to do for sure. AND I do have some fun stuff to share with you soon.
AND I promised to share my newest quilt with you too! So be watching!

Happy February and Happy Valentines Day this week!

So, so happy to see a post and know that you have been well & busy! I truly believe in blogging without being obligated to the blog. When you have time to post, do. If not, don't. When you do post we will be happy and excited to see what you have been doing just as we are today!

Welcome back to blogland Jodi! We have missed you! At least we still know everything is okay! I agree with Suzan- you blog when you can, when you feel like, not when you have to!

Good to hear from you! I understand how life can get busy and sometimes coming up with a post is the last thing you think about:) Your granddaughter is adorable. My grandson is 20 months, so I know what you mean about the talking, we love it!
Also your kitchen sink is wonderful, I want one of those too. But it's not in the budget at this time. I just drool over other kitchens, like yours:)

I knew you would surface at some point or another. Renovations take up a lot of time. As do family, life, travel, work etc. Your granddaughter is so precious and you are so lucky to be near by to spend time with her. She doesn't know how lucky she is! I hope you get more time for sewing soon. I have been busy working on my UFO's. It has been very therapeutic to get them done. As for blogging, you do it when you can and don't feel the pressure. Just remember your faithful followers love your blog, photography, recipes, tips, tutorials and patterns and more! I have taken a break from genealogy, but once in awhile i get the bug.

Such a wonderful post. Love your kitchen sink, it's the kind I am wanting in a bad way!!! Life has been busy for you and I understand you not blogging. I don't blog myself because I don't want to make that kind of commitment. Can't wait to see how your bed quilt turns out.

Hi Jodi,
I've never left you a comment before, but I just wanted to tell you that when I get emails from your blog in my inbox, I feel lifted up. You really do have a pleasant home and it's like a balm for me to see all the pretty quilty colors. I don't have a pleasant home or the time to make it that way. But it's so sweet to be able to admire somebody else's. I haven't touched my blog in about a year, but I hope to get back to it or just start over. It is a lot of work, but I think your blog is worth it.

I was so glad to see your post today, you really have been busy and enjoying the moments. It sounds like we do a lot of the same activities and I wonder too about keeping up with my blog, altho I know I don't have the followers that you do, I just wish sometimes that I could blog right from my head-you know what I mean-just think the thoughts and have it upload right from my brain!
I've been taking the Family History Sunday School class and learning all the latest changes and updates, also researching a new family line. It is so fun and also a little frustrating when I can't find what I'm looking for...anyway, thanks for posting-you were missed.

Woooohhh ok, all caught up! I know what you mean about blogging - everytime I look up, it's been weeks and months between posts. And when I think of catching up, it makes me put it off even longer!

Your granddaughter is so adorable!! Love the pics and the kitchen looks a-m-a-zing so far. My big activity was relocating from the states to Germany - still in the process actually of finding a house. Hugs!

I was so excited to see your post in my email. I hope you don't leave the blog world. We don't need a daily post or even a weekly post. You've been missed!

JODI!!!!!!!! I too have missed you! I think of you and yours everyday when I pass by my Andrew original shark painting.

Wow - what a maroon of a granite guy. Perhaps some had landed on his head at some point? Gah.

Love the sink and the sink skirt!

And Grand Daughter is soooooo stinking adorable!

Nice to read of all the love and fun y'all have. No snow here dernit. We've been too warm this winter.

I completely understand about no time for blogging. I just started writing mine again after a long break. Just check in now and then and we'll be fine ;)

I am SO glad to see a post from you again. Please, I beg of you, don't give it up! I got so much inspiration from your blog. I know it takes a lot of time, but yours is just too wonderful!

Hey Friend!! I know EXACTLY what you mean! I've been in a blogging rut for a long time too - there's so much to do with my daily demands that I don't have much energy left to keep up with my blog. I think about you all the time and especially recently you've been on my mind! I can't believe it's been so long since we've last emailed!! I hope you know how much I sincerely appreciated the help you gave me (Almost TWO?? years ago). That was a rough time for me in a lot of ways, and I've grown and learned a lot since my first attempt at organizing. I also hired a cleaning lady which has helped immensely.

Let's chat again soon! xoox

PS - we have sunny weather, but chilly - took a carribean cruise for a post-deployment (for him) and 40th Birthday for me. I highly recommend it for some good sunshine therapy!
