8 Point Star Quilt

Here's my latest quilt finish!

Sadly it's not one of my UFO's ! {shame on me} I started this from scratch in February and finished it last week ! I had to hurry..... it's a gift.

I am totally in love with this quilt.

I'm guessing I'll make this one again....as I really like it!  I almost (almost) kept it for myself.

But I know the recipients are going to love it. And I've wanted to do something for them, for quite some time... so off it goes to a new home.

Fun setting for photographing it huh!  I'll tell you more about that next week.
{the husband and I took a little trip in Sid during Spring Break}.

I was inspired by Jennifer of Ellison Lane Quilts and THIS quilt from 2011.  Such a fun quilt to piece.

The "off-white" fabric for the background is Kona Natural. It's one of my new favorite's!

The stars are from my Scrap Bins and Stash.

The backing (forgot to get a picture of it) is a Moda print from Minick and Simpson's American Banner Rose Collection HERE... {#14726 13}

The binding is a cute red plaid. Don't know who by?  But I do remember it was in the Christmas section of the fabric store a year or maybe two, ago.

I used warm and natural for the batting. {Quilting: stippled in the background fabric and straight lines in the border on my machine}

There is just something different about the feel of this quilt.  It's pretty light weight, and so soft!  After I washed and dried it, I was just thrilled.  I hope I can duplicate it again someday soon.

It's not quite twin size. I'm thinking if I would have added another Row, it would have been. But it's a perfect Napping Quilt !

K.... I'm off to work on some hand sewing.  A NEW project I can't wait to show you!  And next week I have some fun photos to share with you from our trip.  I even got to visit one of my favorite quilt shops.  Fun Stuff!

Happy Sewing

I really like this! I have a question for you about the reds - do you prewash your fabrics before you use them? Your quilt is so pretty!

I love your starry quilt! I would like to make that pattern someday :) your quilting turned out beautifully too! What color thread did you use when you did the stipple over the colored stars?

What a sweet quilt! Why is the simplest patterns are the best ones to show off colour :o)

I look forward to reading your future posts...you've got me curious!

Great job Jodi! I would have wanted to keep it as well.

This has got to be one of my favorite quilts out there! I just love the simplicity and the colors. I have never used Kona natural- always use just the standard white or snow. This quilt convinces me to 'branch out' and give the natural a try! Thanks for sharing!

The quilt and the photo shoot location are beautiful. I need to make a star quilt, maybe this will be the one but not until all my UFO's are finished!

What a great way to use scraps. I always love the way white backgrounds make the colors standout. Your quilt looks very "happy".
