Scrappy 2010 Selvage Quilt FINISHED !

Yes I shouted FINISHED!!!  Because I am so excited to have this quilt done and be able to share it with you!

 I am beyond happy with the way this quilt turned out...

It is my Scrappy 2010 Quilt.. If you want to know more about my yearly Scrappy quilts... You can read about them HERE...

My new friend Karen quilted it for me!

Karen and I met through our blogs... She lived about 40 miles away from me. But recently she moved much closer to me!  We finally met in real life the day I took my quilt to her.. It's been super fun to get to know her and to have her quilt my quilt!

Karen is a fantastic Long Arm Quilter... She has a blog HERE called Laugh Yourself Into Stitches...

If you'd like to see some of Karen's quilting... you can go to THIS link.  She does some fabulous work!

Karen's contact information is also listed on my "Looking for a Quilter?" page HERE....
{you can find the link on my sidebar too}

I chose to do simple straight line "cross hatch" quilting on a larger scale. I really didn't want to compete with the selvages..

The backing is a great print from Sweetwater Fabrics that I picked up quite some time ago. I knew I wanted words. I love red and white and so... well... it was perfect.

I tried several different fabrics out for binding and ultimately I went with my favorite color and one that compliments the back really nice.

Because of the method I use for making selvage squares (blocks) the quilt is pretty heavy. But I LOVE it... It's a different feel but really neat...

{we used 80/20 hobbs for the batting}

I keep laying this on top of my bed, just so I can look at it all the time. LOL

PS my pics are a little blurry and the color is off... having issues with my camera these days.... dark and a gray tint to a ll my pics...???? I'll take some better pics when I can figure out what's wrong with my camera. ;)

Happy Selvage Sewing!!! ooxx`jodi

It turned out fabulous Jodi! I just gave away a huge bag of my selvages that I had collected over the years. I've been de-junking and realized I probably would not use them for some time to come. So I admire you for using yours!

What a wonderful quilt! I'm impressed that you stitched all of these thin strips together because I don't know if I would have the patience. And isn't it a great feeling to have a UFO finished!!

I love this quilt! You must be so thrilled to have it finished. I know what you mean about laying it out and just looking at it. I do that sometimes. I just keep walking back to the quilt just to look at it. It makes me so happy.

I love your selvage quilt, it's spectacular! I'm the one Nedra gave her selvages to, so I'm definitely going to make some things with them :)

Fantastic quilt!! I've started sewing my selvedges together, so I can't even imagine how long it took you to make this one!!! :-) You should let us know what your method of sewing them together is: I'm curious to know if it works better than mine does!

It is really terrific and thank you for adding the link to her blog. I recently bought a new-to-me long arm machine and frame and I'm looking for long arm quilter blogs to follow, learn from and be inspired by.
