The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show !!!

Guess what ... I just got back from a 2 1/2 week vacation !

Through the magic of blogger and me sewing like a mad woman before we left... I was able to pre-post all my posts the last 3 weeks... {wink}

So where did we go???

First up...The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show! What an amazing experience... What an amazing weekend... And I can't wait for you to see just a little bit of it.  So....here we go!

The morning of.... They block off the Hwy that runs through the main part of town....

The morning of the Sisters Quilt Show

The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is in Sisters, Oregon.. Annually held on the second Saturday of July. It's free and open to the public, managed by a non-profit organization and takes over 500 volunteers donating more than 3,000 hours to put the event together.....

Sisters Quilt Show

I read that the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is the largest outdoor quilt show in the world. How cool is that....

Sisters Quilt Show

The quilts line buildings, fences, railings and just about any place a quilt can be hung! They are everywhere! In past years they've had over 1,300 quilts on display. Haven't heard a number for this year....

The Sisters Bakery was obviously the place to be Saturday morning.  When I first arrived to the show...the line was down the street.  In this pic it had died down a bit... The husband bought some Cheese Bread from the Bakery later in our vacation and it was quite delicious!

Walking through Sisters you have the sense you're in a different era almost... In 1978 the City of Sisters passed an ordinance requiring 1880's style store fronts... kinda cool... :)

And there are other older style buildings everywhere... On Saturday, they all have a quilt or two or three or more!...hanging from them...

Lots of picture taking...

I couldn't get over how beautiful the flowers were throughout town... And with the added touch of quilts among them.... a little bit of heaven...

And trees.... luscious green trees...

And old trucks too... I loved the color of this one, and I thought it was perfectly parked next to this gorgeous quilt...

And some of my favorite quilts....

I'm not one for embellishments on my quilts.... But this one had little rhinestones sewn into it... when the breeze caught the quilt and it waved a bit, it sparkled in the sunshine... It was gorgeous...

Making a Feathered Star quilt is on my list this year....

It seemed like it was taking forever to upload these pics onto my blog... but now it seems it's over too soon! :)  But...I have much... much... much more to share with you in the coming days...  stay tuned....

I wasn't able to visit the Sisters' Quilt Show this year so I enjoyed your pictures of what I missed. I'm definitely going to make it happen next year! Thanks, Jodi.

Wow! Thanks so much for sharing this Jodi, I really enjoyed reading and seeing all the amazing quilt eye candy. What a delight for you to visit, and how cool that all the shop fronts are 1880's style, I would love to visit there one day! I've fallen for the star quilt by the green tree, a lone star style? not quite sure, but fabulous.

Thank you for a great post - it's almost like I was there. : ) And the quilt in the 18th picture down looks like it may have been made from my free Kissing Fish pattern! I haven't seen it before - how exciting!

Oh what fun! We have a quilt show here this weekend and I'm hoping to get to it. Glad you had a fun get-a-way and I'll stop in more often.

I have always wanted to go to Sisters for the show. Maybe next year. I bet you have to get a motel room months in advance! Love your flower patch quilt. The fabrics are wonderful.

It is a fun week of classes and then the quilt show. I took a 2 day class which was excellent. I'm in your 2nd picture at the Quilt Show. I'm lucky to live in Oregon to see this fantastic outdoor Quilt Show.

Thanks for the wonderful post. My 6 sisters and I were in Sisters Oregon a few days before the quilt show, but didn't stay for the show. Maybe someday.
