Vintage Sheet Quilt

This quilt got it's start in 2008... Did I just type 2008?

It started with a Vintage Sheet Swap hosted by Elizabeth of Oh fransson fame...

I blogged about my "progress" in February of 2010.  It only needed a backing and to be quilted....

So sad but it took another 3 years until I finally put a backing on this piece of gorgeousness and had it quilted!

Abby Latimer did a fabulous job on this quilt!...  And to see some better shots of the quilting, you must pop over to her blog....HERE

We had a hard time picking a quilt pattern for this one.. {I always consult with Abby before I make my 'final' decision :) } We decided on Butterfly Garden and we both love it!
It's the prefect combination of swirls and loops with flowers, leaves, and butterflies.

I not only participated in the Vintage Sheet Swap back then... But I also became a regular at our local thrift shops collecting vintage sheets to sell in my Etsy Shop... They became incredibly hard to find and so I stopped...  I kinda miss those great finds!

I love the feel of this quilt and I love the colors.  It's going to be one of my favorite quilts... I can already tell...

I LOVE this quilt. It already has that soft and snuggly look to it. Beautiful quilting, too.

Your quilt is beautiful :) I love the quilts made with vintage sheets...definitely on my "to-do" list, but it's going to be hard to actually cut up my collection!

Absolutely gorgeous. The colors melt into one another. Would love to curl up with this one...even in the winter.

That is just gorgeous! I have been collecting vintage sheets for some time now. I find them all the time up here in the mountain community of Big Bear. Many folks keep cabins in their families for years on end, when they sell them, so many vintage sheets wind up in the local thrift shops. It is really a mecca for them!!!!
I would love to do a quilt!!

Lovely! I've been collecting vintage sheets for awhile now, but I don't think I have enough yet to do a quilt top.
Thanks for sharing, I love it when I see others finishing up projects, I don't feel so alone! Thanks for the inspiration.

Very pretty and cuddly. How do you prepare the sheets when you buy them?

So, so pretty! It must be very satisfying having this finished! (BTW I didn't know what a blog was in '08!!)

It's so soft and pretty! Did you use a sheet for the backing also? I participated in a vintage sheet swap, as well, and have the stash to prove it...but no quilt. YET!

It's incredible. It reminds me a little bit of watercolor. Love it. Pinned it.

I love this! I have a TON of vintage sheets. I love them, but have yet to make anything with them. Thank you much for showing them to us!

Ooooh! Now I want to go pull out my own vintage sheet collection and see what I can come up with.

That is such a beautiful quilt! I used to be able to pick up vintage sheets really cheaply when we lived in Canada and before I knew what the heck to do with them! I wish I could wind back the clock!

This is just beautiful! I love the addition of the gingham, too. I can just imagine how soft and cozy it is. :)
