Double Pinwheel Quilt Block Tutorial

Thanks for all your awesome comments in regards to my Double Pinwheel Quilt !

Double Pinwheel

And before I forget... I want to say....Thank You for all of your comments all of the time! I don't have much time to respond to them, but I read all of them, and I'm so glad that you take the time to stop by and to say Hi!

O.K. as requested here are brief instructions and a couple illustrations to show you how I made my Double Pinwheel quilt...

Double Pinwheel

The block is 12" finished

You will need the following for each block:

To make the Half Square Triangle units...

Pair 2 red 3 7/8" squares with 2 white 3 7/8" squares right sides together.  Draw a line diagonally from point to point.  Sew 1/4" on either side of the line.  Press. Cut on the line you drew. Press open. If needed trim to 3 1/2".

Do this with the Green and Gray 3 7/8" squares as well.

You will now have 4 red and white HST's, 4 green and white HST's, and 4 gray and white HST's.

Sew the block together using the illustration below as your guide...

First row is = 1 red and white HST + 1 - 3 1/2" white square + 1 gray and white HST + 1 red and white HST.

Second row is = 1 gray and white HST + 1 green and white HST + 1 green and white HST + 1 - 3 1/2" white square... and so on...

P.S. the red HST's make the second (double) Pinwheel!

So there ya go... It's a fun block to sew!  Sorry I don't have any material requirements or cutting instructions for a whole quilt on this one... it's been a little busy round here... And is anyone else sad to see summer coming to an end already?  Goodness that went by fast!

Happy Sewing!!! ooxx`jodi

Love this quilt and can't wait to purchase the fabric to make it. It's going to look really nice in king size for my bed.
